Ukraine and Poland preparing to introduce joint customs and border control

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Ukrainian and Polish delegations are discussing a draft intergovernmental agreement on joint control of travelers, transport vehicles and goods at joint border crossings.

The introduction of joint customs and border control will simplify and expedite the procedure of border crossing for international haulers and individual travelers, Ukrainian media outlets quoted Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry as saying on social media on Wednesday. After this agreement is signed, Ukraine will become a country which is not a European Union member but has such border crossings with an EU member country.

The draft document is expected to outline procedures and rules for the operations of joint border crossings and information sharing between the two countries' supervisory services, as well as enable the supervisory services of Ukraine and Poland to delegate the fulfilment of their duties and functions to each other.

Ukraine-Poland trade stood at over $10.035 billion in January-October 2022, as compared to approximately $10.207 billion throughout 2021, the Infrastructure Ministry said.
