Russia-China trade in agricultural goods up 37% to almost $6 bln in Jan-Oct 2022

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Russia-China trade in agricultural goods grew 37% year-on-year to almost $6 billion in the period from January-October 2022, Chinese State Council Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua said at a meeting of the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation and Development of the Russian Far East and Baikal Region and the Chinese Northeast on Thursday.

China's imports from Russia stood at $4.7 billion, while exports "increased by 39%" to $1.8 billion, he said.

Hu emphasized cooperation in soy production and supply. Experimental plantations of 71 soy varieties from China have been established in a number of Russian regions, and six batches have been delivered.

According to Hu, the sides are discussing seafood supply and a larger poultry trade. Russia has resumed imports of pome, stone and citrus fruits from China, he added.
