Ukraine to receive 2.5-bln-euro tranche from EU next week, another 500 mln euros in Dec - Dombrovskis

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - The European Union will disburse a tranche of 2.5 billion euros to Ukraine next week, and another 500 million euros in December, European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis said.

"We have already paid out three billion euros. Another 2.5 billion euros will come next week, and another 500 million euros in December," Ukrainian media quoted Dombrovskis as saying in Brussels on Wednesday in response to a question from Ukrainian journalists.

The remaining three billion euros envisaged in the nine-billion-euro macro-financial assistance package for 2022 will be included in a planned loan assistance package of 18 billion euros for Ukraine for 2023, he said.

"Regarding the remaining three billion euros, decisions were made on a one-off basis this year, so the flow of funding was not entirely predictable. Therefore, in a sense, they were taken into account in our proposal for 18 billion euros," Dombrovskis said.

This can be explained by the size of the assistance package, as an assistance package less than 18 billion euros was discussed initially, he said.
