Output at ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog steel producer down by 65% in Jan-Sept 2022

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Blast-furnace coke output at the coke and chemicals division of ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog (Dnepropetrovsk region), Ukraine's steel producer, dropped by 64.6% to 786,000 tonnes in January-September 2022 year-on-year.

The enterprise manufactured 46,000 tonnes of blast-furnace coke in September, Ukrainian media said, citing a company spokesperson.

Meanwhile, the company's output of 6% moisture bulk coke stood at 905,000 tonnes in January-September, including 54,000 in September.

Coke output at ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog increased by 15.1% to 2.221 million tonnes in January-September 2021, including 245,000 tonnes in September of 2021.

In January-August 2022, the enterprise received 263,000 tonnes of domestically mined coal, 390,000 tonnes of coal from Russia (before the crisis), 65,000 tonnes from Kazakhstan, 27,000 tonnes from Poland, 15,000 tonnes from the Czech Republic, 208,000 tonnes from the United States, and 134,000 tonnes from Australia. A total of 27,000 tonnes of domestically mined coal were supplied to the enterprise in September.

As reported, Ukrainian coke and chemicals enterprises decreased 6% moisture bulk coke output by 56.6% to 3.153 million tonnes in January-September 2022, producing 213,000 tonnes of bulk coke in September. Blast-furnace coke output stood at 2.7 million tonnes in January-September 2022, including 182,000 tonnes in September.

A total of 3.527 million tonnes of coal concentrate were supplied to Ukrainian coke and chemicals enterprises in January-September 2022, including 277,000 tonnes in September.

Coke output in Ukraine declined by 1.3% to 9.543 million tonnes in 2021 year-on-year.
