Indian PM calls for resumption of talks on Ukraine

DELHI. Nov 15 (Interfax) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that it is necessary to return to the negotiating table in order to be able to achieve peace in Ukraine.

"I have repeatedly said that we have to find a way to return to the path of ceasefire and diplomacy in Ukraine," The Times of India newspaper quoted Modi as saying at the opening of the G20 summit in Bali.

As in the past century, when world leaders had to take measures to normalize the situation after the havoc wreaked by World War 2, "the onus of creating a new world order for the post-Covid period lies on our shoulders" today, he said.

The prime minister also spoke out against any restrictions on energy supplies and called for guaranteeing the stability of energy markets. Global economic growth depends on India's energy security, he added.

Western media outlets, in turn, said that Modi emphasized the importance of continuing fertilizer and grain deliveries.
