Zelensky hopes for U.S. continued support regardless of outcome of midterm elections

WASHINGTON. Nov 10 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said he hopes that bipartisan support for his country in the United States will be maintained after the new Congress begins operating.

"We are grateful for bipartisan support, we would really like to have this bipartisan support remain after the elections," Zelensky said in an interview with CNN.

U.S. President Joe Biden earlier said he expects American aid to continue for Ukraine after the newly elected Congress begins working, noting that he only provides Kiev with the military assistance that the U.S. deems quite necessary.

According to the forecasts, following the midterm elections, the Republican Party will take control of the House of Representatives and, probably, the Senate. Its leaders said they intended to be more careful than the Democrats were in determining how to help Ukraine. The Republicans were also going to be more meticulous in monitoring how exactly that aid is being used.
