Belgium allocates nearly 5 mln-euro grant to Ukraine via IMF

MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - Belgium has transferred a 4.96-million-euro grant for Ukraine to an account, which was especially created and administered by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said.

"It's great to see the international community continuing to come together to help stabilize the Ukrainian economy," Georgieva said on Twitter on Thursday, according to Ukrainian media reports.

The IMF CEO noted earlier that the IMF has been in talks with Ukraine, but until certainty is reached with the monetary program, the Fund proposes backing the country, which needs significant amounts of financing, through this specifically created account.

She said on October 25 that the IMF had its administered account through which funds could be channeled for such payments to Ukraine. She added that the IMF had already paid $2.2 billion to the country from this Fund's administered account.

The Fund directly allocated $2.7 billion in emergency financing for Ukraine in 2022.
