MSCI to stop calculating MSCI Russia indexes, derivatives as of March 1

MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - MSCI will no longer provide indexes that include only Russian equities, the index provider said in a statement.

Given how long the Russian stock market has been inaccessible, MSCI will stop supporting all indexes containing only securities classified in Russia as of March 1, 2023, the statement said. This includes the MSCI Russia Index and others based on it, the company said.

The MSCI Russia indexes were previously reclassified from Emerging Markets to Standalone Markets. Since then, MSCI has used a price of 0.00001 in the corresponding currency of every security to calculate the indexes.
