Belarus, Russia sign intergovernmental agreement on uniform rules of competition

MINSK. Nov 9 (Interfax) - Belarus and Russia have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the uniform rules of competition, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Anti-monopoly Regulation and Trade said in a statement.

Maxim Shaskolsky and Alexei Bogdanov, the respective heads of Russia's and Belarus's anti-monopoly services, signed the agreement.

"The agreement was developed as part of implementing the Union State program on uniform rules of competition within the Union State, and is intended to align anti-monopoly legislation," according to the statement.

The document will allow the parties "to create uniform rules of the game in the Union State markets," as well as permit the anti-monopoly authorities to respond jointly to anti-competitive practices and develop uniform approaches to eliminating these practices, the Belarusian ministry noted.
