Ukrenergo plans to put into effect hourly power outage schedules

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Hourly power outage schedules in Ukraine were put into effect on Wednesday morning, the Ukrainian national electricity transmission operator Ukrenergo said.

"Hourly power outage schedules have been put into effect since 6:00 a.m. today, on November 2," Ukrainian media reported with reference to Ukrenergo's social media post on Wednesday.

Ukrenergo's dispatch center has provided regional grid operators with volumes for limiting power supply on an hourly basis for consumers in the central (the city of Kiev and the Kiev, Chernigov, Cherkassy, and Zhitomir regions) and northern (the Sumy, Kharkov, and Poltava regions) parts of Ukraine, it said.

Hourly power outage schedules imply that certain groups of consumers would have limited power supply on a daily basis in line with schedules drawn up by power grid operators for each particular region. Power grid operators are supposed to draw up and publicize such schedules in advance.

Later on Wednesday, Ukrenergo made some adjustments to its own instructions.

"Unfortunately, hourly power outage schedules are not enough today to maintain the power system's stable operations. Their effect in those regions has been temporarily suspended," Ukrainian media cited Ukrenergo as saying on its social account.

Instead of employing hourly power outage schedules, Ukrenergo ordered limiting power supply to all categories of consumers in the northern part of Ukraine (the Sumy, Kharkov, and Poltava regions).
