Russia might extend imports of agrichemicals via all checkpoints until mid-2023

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Russia might extend imports of pesticides and other agricultural chemicals through any checkpoint until July 1, 2023, according to a presidential order drafted by the Agriculture Ministry and posted on the regulation.gov.ru website.

The new order would amend an April 18 decree on the temporary procedure for importing agrichemicals into Russia. Permission to import such chemicals through any of the country's checkpoints has already been extended once to December 31 from the initial July 1, 2022.

This measure is intended to mitigate the "negative consequences of the unfriendly actions of the United States and allied countries and international organizations that contravene international law, related to the imposition of restrictive measures against citizens of the Russian Federation and Russian legal entities," a memo attached to the order said. The order is intended to protect Russia's national interests as regards supplies of pesticides and other agrichemicals, the memo said.

Previously, pesticides and other agrichemicals could only be imported into Russia through 20 checkpoints.
