Farmers to be supplied with sleeves for grain storage identified in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) have considered applications from Ukrainian farmers for gratuitous supply of polymer sleeves for grain storage, and 1,497 recipients of sleeves have been identified during the first phase of the humanitarian aid program.

According to Ukrainian media reports citing the website of the Agrarian Policy Ministry on Monday, a total of 30,000 single-use polymeric grain storage sleeves with a capacity of 200 tonnes each are to be distributed.

The ministry noted that the humanitarian project is being implemented by the Agrarian Policy Ministry and the FAO with the financial assistance of Canada, Japan, and the Australian philanthropic organisation Minderoo Foundation, which jointly provided $60.5 million.

According to the ministry, requests for single-use grain storage facilities may be submitted by farmers with the land plots of 100 to 10,000 hectares, which are located on the Ukrainian government-controlled territories.

Applicants are obliged to use the obtained sleeves solely for storing their own products, as well as to pick them up themselves from the warehouses in their own or a neighboring region.
