Ukrenergo limits power supply to all customers in central, northern parts of Ukraine

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian national electricity transmission operator Ukrenergo ordered on the morning of November 1 that power supply be limited to all categories of customers in the central (the city of Kiev and the Kiev, Chernigov, Cherkassy, and Zhitomir regions) and northern (the Sumy, Kharkov, and Poltava regions) parts of Ukraine, Ukrainian media reported.

On October 31, Ukrenergo had imposed restrictions on power supply to both industrial consumers and households in all of Ukraine.

To repair damage caused to the power supply infrastructure, Ukrenergo's dispatch center provided regional grid operators with volumes for emergency power outage schedules for industrial consumers and households in all parts of Ukraine starting 5:00 p.m. Monday.

"Equipment of the Ukrainian national power transmission system has been damaged in several regions simultaneously. Power consumption limitations are necessary now to lessen the load on the grids and avoid new breakdowns after the infrastructure has been damaged," Ukrainian media quoted Ukrenergo as saying on social networks on Monday evening.

"Along with grid operators, Ukrenergo is doing everything possible to restore the damaged power infrastructure within the shortest possible time. Repair crews are working round-the-clock," Ukrenergo said.

The company again asked Ukrainians to limit power consumption as much as possible.
