Moldova buys another 27 mcm of gas, thus enlarging reserves to 127 mcm

CHISINAU. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Moldova's Energocom state-run company bought 27 million cubic meters of gas on October 31, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu said on Telegram.

He did not say who supplied the gas and at what price.

Gas reserves of Energocom have thus grown to 127 mcm.

As reported earlier, Moldova is buying gas to be used in case Gazprom stops the supply. Moldova has no gas storage facilities of its own, and the reserves are stored in the neighboring countries, Ukraine and Romania.

Gazprom will continue to supply 5.7 mcm of gas per day to Moldova in November, same as in October. This is 40% smaller than the amount requested by Moldova. The preliminary gas price in November is $821 per 1,000 cubic meters, down from $1,082 paid by Moldova for 1,000 cubic meters of gas in October.

The daily gas supply to Moldova was cut 30% to 5.7 million cubic meters a day on October 1, while the demand stood at 8.06 mcm. Gazprom explained the smaller supply with technical problems created by the restrictions on gas transit via Ukraine.
