Putin thanks Aliyev for appreciating Russia's role in Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization

SOCHI. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev for the high assessment of the Russian role in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict settlement process.

"You have pointed out repeatedly that Russia played a markedly important role in settling the conflict, and our peacekeeping contingent now is fulfilling its mission the way it should be. For these assessments, I am grateful to you," Putin said at a meeting with Aliyev on Monday.

The Russian leader also noted progress in the three-way working group led by the three countries' deputy prime ministers, while stressing the need to lend additional impetus to its work.

Putin said his today's meetings were aimed at reinforcing the conflict settlement agreements of 2020 and 2021 and searching for solutions to outstanding issues.
