Rosgeo identifies 11 oil, gas areas in Aral Sea in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Russian state exploration company Rosgeo, working with Uzbek experts, has identified 11 prospective oil and gas areas in the largely dried up Aral Sea, Uzbekistan's State Geology and Mineral Resources Committee said.

"An oil and gas model of the basin was created based on the results of joint work, 11 prospective areas were identified and the reserve of hydrocarbon resources was supplemented," the committee said.

The parties have summed up the results of the first phase of joint work, and discussed future phases of seismic surveys, exploration and identification of new prospective structures, the committee said.
