Covid-19 morbidity may grow in Russia in late fall, yet there are no plans to reinstate restrictions - Rospotrebnadzor head

MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - There may be a rise in Covid-19 morbidity in Russia in late fall but it won't be significant and there are no plans to reinstate related restrictions, head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) Anna Popova said.

"There are no forecasts suggesting a steep, threatening growth [in morbidity] for now. Although, we are anticipating a slight increase in seasonal, respiratory infections by the end of fall," Popova told reporters on Wednesday.

"It is not planned to impose any restrictive measures for now, as there are no grounds for doing that," she said.

The Covid-19 situation in Russia is manageable in general, Popova said.

Back on July 1, Rospotrebnadzor lifted a number of Covid-19 restrictions, including the wearing of masks, as the situation started to improve.
