Algeria to host next GEFC summit in Nov 2023

MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - The seventh summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will take place in Algeria in November 2023, a statement published in the wake of the 24th GECF Ministerial Meeting in Cairo said.

The next ministerial meeting will take place in Malabo in Equatorial Guinea in October 2023.

Equatorial Guinean Mines and Hydrocarbons Minister Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima became chairman of the 2023 ministerial meeting, while Qatari Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi became his deputy.

Russia's Dmitry Semyonov will chair the GECF Executive Board in 2023.

Energy ministers and high-ranking officials from Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, and observers from Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Malaysia, Mozambique, and the United Arab Emirates attended the Cairo meeting. The Papua New Guinea energy minister and a representative from Mauritania attended the meeting as guests.
