Germany to disburse 20 mln euros for Ukraine to buy reserve equipment for critical infrastructure
MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Germany will disburse 20 million euros for Ukraine to buy reserve equipment to maintain the functioning of its critical infrastructure, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development.
Communities and Territories Development Minister Aleksei Chernyshev said he reached a tentative understanding on the matter at a meeting with Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection Steffi Lemke.
"We need to provide Ukraine with maximum reserve capability and Ukrainians with heating, light, and water. All the necessary equipment will be bought on the funding allocated by Germany, primarily mobile diesel generators, automatic pumping stations for water supply, and mobile heat and power stations. Ukraine will have alternative sources of power," the ministry quoted Chernyshev as saying.
Ukraine and Germany will finalize the agreement in the near future, he said.
