IAEA director general thanks U.S. for supporting efforts to establish nuclear safety zone at Zaporozhye NPP

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, speaking at a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, thanked the United States for its support of the IAEA's efforts to establish a nuclear safety and security protection zone around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

"Comprehensive meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken today in Washington DC. I stressed IAEA safeguards inspectors will visit Ukraine this week and thanked the U.S. for supporting our efforts to establish a Nuclear Safety and Security Protection Zone at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant," Grossi said on social media.

The Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe operating six VVER-1000 reactor units.
