Six ships to deliver Ukrainian foods to Turkey, Spain, Italy, Yemen, Afghanistan

NEW YORK (UN). Oct 24 (Interfax) - Six bulkers loaded with food were cleared by the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) and left Ukrainian ports on Sunday.

"The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) reports that six vessels left Ukrainian ports today carrying a total of 125,300 metric tons of grain and other food products under the Black Sea Grain Initiative," the JCC statement said.

Three ships, namely, the MV Valerio with 25,000 tonnes of corn, the MV Torc carrying 12,600 tonnes of sunflower oil, and the MV Iman Bahram Mammadzedah with 6,200 tonnes of sunflower oil, headed to Turkey, while the MV Lady Litel will deliver 17,800 tonnes of corn, 8,000 tonnes of wheat and 6,300 tonnes of barley to Spain, and MV Magpie S will bring 8,400 tonnes of soybeans to Italy.

In addition, the MV Pangeo bulker, charted by the United Nations World Food Program, will transport 40,000 tonnes of wheat for Yemen (30,000 tonnes) and Afghanistan (10,000 tonnes).

"Grains that reach a destination may go through processing and be trans-shipped to other countries," the statement said.

"As of 23 October, the total tonnage of grain and other foodstuffs exported from the three Ukrainian ports is 8,514,537 metric tons. A total of 765 voyages (386 inbound and 379 outbound) have been enabled so far," it said.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reported citing the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure on social media that six more ships carrying 227,000 tonnes of agricultural products left Ukrainian seaports on Monday.

According to the ministry, the shipments are bound for Africa, Asia and Europe.

Among the six mentioned vessels is the MBC DAISY bulk carrier carrying 14,000 tonnes of wheat for Algeria.

Since the first vessel carrying Ukrainian food products left the Ukrainian port, 8.8 million tonnes of agricultural products have been exported. In total, 386 vessels carrying foodstuffs for Asian, European and African countries have left Ukrainian ports.
