Moskvich auto plant to be launched in December - Mayor Sobyanin
MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Moscow plans to launch the Moskvich automotive plant in December, and to become the center for manufacturing electric vehicles going forward, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Thursday at the Made in Russia 2022 international export forum.
Prior to the start of a plenary session, Sobyanin and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin became familiar with the exposition of the forum, with one of the central elements being the Made in Moscow stand.
"Auto transport has seriously failed this year; nevertheless, I hope, with the assistance of the Industry Ministry, that we will launch the Moskvich auto plant again in December," Sobyanin said as part of a report to Mishustin.
Sobyanin noted that there was a desire for Moscow to be the center for manufacturing electric vehicles, and the city has all of the expertise for this.
