External power supply to Zaporozhye NPP restored - IAEA

VIENNA. Oct 19 (Interfax) - The external power supply to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has been restored, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said in a statement.

"Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has restored the connection to its last remaining operating 750 kilovolt (kV) power line after it was lost for the third time in ten days," according to the statement published on the IAEA website.

The IAEA said earlier that the external power supply to the Zaporozhye NPP was halted for the third time in ten days. The facility received power through a reserve line.

The Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It operates six VVER-1000 power units. Currently, the nuclear facility is not generating power, as its last functioning reactor was stopped on September 11.
