Grossi tweets results of meeting with Kuleba in 'Kiev bunker'

BRUSSELS. Oct 13 (Interfax) - The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said on Thursday that at his meeting with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba he had reached progress on the problem of establishing a safety zone around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

"In a Kiev bunker with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba we are making progress towards the establishment of a nuclear safety and protection zone around Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant," Grossi said on Twitter.

Grossi was in Kiev last week for consultations over the zone's creation.

Last Tuesday he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.

Last week, the IAEA mission that has been at the NPP since September 1 completed its first rotation.

The Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It operates six VVER-1000 power units. The Russian army has been in control of the nuclear facility since February 28, 2022.
