Zelensky asks govt to consider repeal of visa-free travel with Belarus in reply to e-petition

MOSCOW. Oct 13 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has instructed the Ukrainian Cabinet to consider the repeal of visa-free travel with Belarus in reply to an electronic petition, Ukrainian media reported.

"I am monitoring measures aimed at tightening control over the crossing by Belarusian citizens of the border with Ukraine. The border between Ukraine and Belarus has been closed to entering citizens of Belarus and other foreigners," Zelensky said in his reply.

All the crossing points at the Belarusian border have been closed except for one in the Volyn region, which is working in limited mode to admit Ukrainian citizens returning home.

"At the present time, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has been prompted to consider the issues within its purview that were brought up in the electronic petition and continue relevant work, taking into account the development of the situation and the implementation of measures to protect the national interests of our state and its citizens," the reply says.
