Novatek to purchase electricity from Rosatom wind farms

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Novatek Group enterprises, in particular the Gas Condensate Fractionation and Transshipment Complex in the port of Ust-Luga, will buy electricity generated by Rosatom at its wind farms.

Novatek chief Leonid Mikhelson and Rosatom head Alexei Likhachev signed the relevant memorandum on Wednesday at the Russian Energy Week forum.

"The purchase of green electricity will help reduce the carbon footprint of Novatek's products in accordance with international standards," the company said in a statement.

The parties also intend to cooperate in the development of wind energy in the Arctic.

Furthermore, the memorandum provides for evaluation of the possibility of introducing Rosatom's technical solutions in the processes of LNG and low-carbon hydrogen production, ammonia, power generation and storage.
