Deputy PM Novak: We are preparing for oil embargo, redirecting resources eastward, counting on maintaining Russia's export potential

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Russia is preparing for the European Union's upcoming embargo on Russian energy resources, the country is redirecting its resources to the east, and it is counting on maintaining its export potential, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.

"Our energy sector is stable today. Yes, there is a force majeure in gas owing to sabotage at critical infrastructure facilities [the Nord Stream pipelines]. We are preparing for the situation that comes into force in December for oil, and comes into force in February 2023 for petroleum products. Consequently, we are redirecting our resources to the east, and we are counting on the country remaining one of the major energy partners globally," Novak stressed.
