Kyrgyzstan elected UN Human Rights Council member for 2023-2025
BISHKEK. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan has been elected a member of the UN Human Rights Council for 2023-2025, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry's press service said on Wednesday.
"Kyrgyzstan won elections to the UN Human Rights Council for 2023-2025 in New York on October 11 by gaining support from 126 UN member states," the ministry said.
Six countries - Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Maldives and South Korea - were competing for four seats on the UN Human Rights Council in 2023-2025 from the Asian group, it said.
Kyrgyzstan was a member of the UN Human Rights Council in 2009-2012 and 2016-2018.
