UN Under-Secretary-General Griffiths to visit Moscow on Oct 16 to discuss grain deal

NEW YORK, UN. Oct 11 (Interfax) - United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths and UN Conference on Trade and Development Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan will visit Moscow on October 16 for talks on the grain deal, UN Secretary General spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Tuesday.

"Rebeca Grynspan and Martin Griffiths are still expected to go to Moscow on Sunday," Dujarric said at a press briefing.

Dujarric said that the main goal of the talks would be to expand grain supplies.

Russia, Turkey and Ukraine signed the UN-brokered document in Istanbul on July 22 to open a corridor for the export of grain from three Ukrainian ports - Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny.

Previously, the Western media had reported that the grain deal was in jeopardy due to a high number of vessels waiting in line to ship Ukrainian grain.
