Rosenergoatom denies allegations Zaporozhye NPP is connected to Russian power grid

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Any reports about the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant based in Energodar being plugged into the Russian grid system are false, advisor to the CEO of Russia's Rosenergoatom concern Renat Karchaa told Interfax.

"The information [published by several media outlets] about the NPP being connected to the Russian power grid is not true. There are no objective technical conditions for that," Karchaa said.

The nuclear power plant's power requirements are currently met thanks to the so-called Dnipro line providing power to the station from Ukrainian-controlled territory, he said.

The Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It operates six VVER-1000 power units.

As reported earlier, the power station's facilities will become the property of the Russian Federation, and Zaporozhye NPP, a federal state unitary enterprise, has been set up. The Operating Organization of the Zaporozhye NPP, a joint-stock company founded by Rosenergoatom (part of Rosatom), has become the operator of the power plant.
