Russia's petrochemical industry will not face shortage in naphtha amid decline in oil output - Konov

MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Russia's petrochemical industry does not face the threat of a shortage in naphtha if there is a decline in oil output and/or a reduction in oil refining, Dmitry Konov, a member of the board of the Russian Chemists Union, said in a statement.

"There would likely be more restrictions on the possibility to export naphtha, because naphtha has been a product that has been exported quite a bit from Russia. Therefore, I am sure that there should be more than enough naphtha for domestic operations," Konov told reporters on the sidelines of the Russian Environmental Forum 2022.

Denis Deryushkin, Deputy CEO of the Analytical Center for the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Russian Energy Ministry, earlier reported that the share of LPG and naphtha as raw materials for the petrochemical industry are dominant at around 50% and 40%, respectively, in Russia.
