Ukraine exports 7 mln tonnes of food products as part of grain initiative

MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Another seven ships carrying 177,500 tonnes of agricultural products left the Ukrainian ports of Odessa, Pivdenny (Yuzhny) and Chernomorsk on Tuesday for the countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, Ukrainian media reported citing the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry.

"In particular, the Sea Pearl J bulk carrier, which will deliver 30,000 tonnes of wheat to Tunisia, is among the vessels that have left Ukrainian ports," the ministry said on social media.

Five vessels, namely, the Hazar S, Sea Pearl J, Ince Evrenye, Milina, and the Magnum Power departed from the port of Chernomorsk, while the Lucky Trader and the Erdek left Odessa and Pivdenny, respectively.

Since the first ship carrying Ukrainian food products left the Ukrainian port, 7 million tonnes of agricultural products have been exported, and the number of ships carrying food products has reached 316 bound for the countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.

As reported, Ukraine, Turkey and Russia signed two UN-brokered documents in Istanbul on July 22 to open a corridor for the export of agricultural products from three Ukrainian ports: Chernomorsk, Odessa and Pivdenny. Ukraine aimed to export 3 million tonnes of agricultural products per month as part of the initiative.
