All facilities damaged on Monday to be rebuilt - Ukrainian president

MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky expects that all facilities that were damaged on Monday to be rebuilt.

"Restoration work is currently underway across the country. We will restore all facilities that were damaged by today's strike. It's only a matter of time," Ukrainian media quoted Zelensky as saying in an overnight video address.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian media outlets said on Tuesday, citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, that 301 localities in the Kiev, Lvov, Sumy, Ternopol and Khmelnitsky regions remain cut off from power supply.

Ukrainian media also said with reference to the Ukrenergo national energy company that in the evening of October 10 residents of Kiev and the Kiev region reduced power consumption by 26.5% as compared to the usual amount on a fall day.

Such a step by consumers helped avert power line overloads and allowed the company's dispatching center to balance the energy system at the critical moment of the day, Ukrenergo said.

It has also been reported that Ferrexpo, a producer and exporter of iron ore pellets for the steel industry with assets in Ukraine, has suspended production at is mines in the Poltava region due to damage inflicted on state-owned electricity infrastructure.

"Engineers are currently conducting an assessment of the damage incurred to electrical infrastructure, and an estimate of the period of production downtime as repairs are carried out," the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

According to Ukrainian media reports, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) reported on Tuesday morning that 27 trains are being delayed because of damaged overhead wires.

"In particular, 14 trains are running with delays of up to 30 minutes, and 23 trains with delays of 30 minutes and more," the company said on social media.

Meanwhile, suburban train services have been normalized in all regions, and pressure in overhead wires has been restored, it said.
