Ukrainian authorities report missile strikes across Ukraine

MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has confirmed missile strikes on various targets in a number of Ukrainian regions.

"Dozens of missiles, Iranian Shaheds (drones)," Zelensky said in a video address on his Telegram channel. "Air raid sirens are on across Ukraine, there are missile hits," he said.

"Energy sites across the country" are the targets, Zelensky said.

In turn, deputy chief of staff of the Ukrainian presidential administration Kirill Timoshenko said on Telegram that "energy sites from Lvov to Zaporozhye, the Kiev region, Khmelnitsky, Dnepr, Vinnitsa, Frankovsk, Sumy, Kharkov, Zhitomir and Kirovograd regions, and the entire south are in the crosshairs. This may have an effect on the stability of energy supply."

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal reported the damage to over ten important infrastructure elements in eight regions on Telegram and warned the population about possible disruptions in water and power supply.

While commenting on the situation in Kiev, Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klichko said that the attacks hit a number of critical infrastructure elements. "Missiles hit sites in the city center [in the Shevchenkovsky and Solomensky districts). Air raid sirens are on, which means the threat persists," Klichko said on Telegram.

Law enforcement officers have blocked the central streets, and rescue services are at work, he said. Metro stations are being used as shelters. Klichko asked Kiev residents not to travel outside the city, and urged people in the suburbs not to travel to Kiev.
