Russia expecting to build 1,100 vessels at domestic shipyards through 2030 - Mishustin

BALTIYSK. Oct 6 (Interfax) - More than 1,000 vessels can be built at Russian shipyards through 2030, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in video address to participants of a flag hoisting ceremony on the "General Chernyakhovsky" ferry.

"In general, we expect to build about 1,100 ships of different purposes at domestic shipyards by 2030. More than 300 of them - within the framework of a special preferential leasing program", - said Mishustin.

After the flag-raising ceremony, the new auto-railway ferry "General Chernyakhovsky" will go on its maiden voyage from Baltiysk (Kaliningrad Region) to the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad Region).

"General Chernyakhovsky" is Russia's second dual-fuel automobile-railway ferry. It was built under a contract by FSUE Rosmorport. It was built by Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant LLC (part of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) in cooperation with Turkish shipyard Kuzey Star Shipyard.
