Ukraine joins Portugal-Spain bid to host 2030 World Cup - UFA

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Ukraine has officially joined Spain and Portugal in their bid to host the 2030 World Cup, Ukrainian media said on Wednesday, citing the website of the Ukrainian Football Association (UFA).

"The Portuguese Football Federation and the Royal Spanish Football Federation incorporated Ukraine to join the bid for the 2030 World Cup. The two associations communicated their intention to UEFA, which immediately expressed its full support," according to an official joint press release, which was adopted following the parties' press briefing at the UEFA headquarters on October 5.

The briefing was attended by Portuguese Football Federation President Fernando Gomez, President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation Luis Rubiales and UAF President Andrei Pavelko.

"The coordinating committee of the 2030 World Cup, chaired by Antonio Laranjo, will now include officials from the Ukrainian delegation," the press release said.

The candidacy of Portugal, Spain and Ukraine will meet the deadlines for submitting specifications to FIFA.

Ukraine is expected to host one of the tournament's groups.
