Alrosa not to be included in next package of EU sanctions - media

MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - The European Union is not going to include Russian diamond miner Alrosa in its next package of sanctions, the EUobserver reported, citing European Commission materials.

Alrosa was included in the initial draft of the sanctions, but was not on the list adopted on Wednesday, which includes 29 individuals and seven legal entities.

The EUobserver said the EU had argued in the original proposals that Alrosa had directly financed a new Russian naval submarine as well as feeding billions of euros a year into the military budget.

Alrosa shares rose 6.8% on the Moscow Exchange on Wednesday to 69.24 rubles per share immediately following the news that the company would not be included in the EU's next package of sanctions.
