Ukraine has exported nearly 6 mln tonnes of agricultural produce under grain deal

MOSCOW. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Another four vessels carrying 77,000 tonnes of agricultural produce left the Chernomorsk and Odessa ports for Africa, Asia, and Europe on Monday, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the Infrastructure Ministry.

"The FMPC B 201 and the Michalis bulkers left the Odessa port and the Spring and the Saffet Aga the Chernomorsk port. In particular, the Spring bulker will deliver 8,000 tonnes of corn to Egypt," the ministry said on social media.

Since the first vessel carrying Ukrainian agricultural produce left its port after the Istanbul grain deal took effect in July, Ukraine has exported 5.9 million tonnes of agricultural produce, and the number of vessels carrying foodstuffs for countries of Asia, Europe, and Africa has reached 261.

As reported earlier, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine signed a document under the United Nations' auspices in Istanbul on July 22 to set up a sea corridor for exporting grain from the Ukrainian seaports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny. Ukraine set itself the goal of bringing its agricultural produce exports under the initiative to 3 million tonnes a month.
