Ukrainian state power trader ECU to start supplies to Poland on Oct 1

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian state power trader Energy Company of Ukraine (ECU) will start electricity supplies to Poland on October 1, sharing grid capacity with DTEK Zakhidenergo, which previously held a monopoly on exporting electric power in this direction, Ukrainian media reported.

Based on outcomes of Ukrenergo's daily auction to distribute interchange capacity, the two companies bought 110 MW of electricity each to export it to Poland on October 1.

ECU said in a press release that, as a result of competition, the state energy trader edged out the dominating private player and won the right to supply 50% of the export volume offered at the auction.
