Potential for Russian agribusiness exports to Angola put at $100 mln/year - Agroexport

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax) - The estimated potential for Russian agribusiness exports to Angola is $100 million per year, the Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport Center said in a report.

The main promising exports are grains, foremost wheat, soybean oil, beef, poultry, yeast and other agribusiness products, the center said. Russia's main competitors on the Angolan market will be goods from the European Union, Brazil, India, the United States and Thailand.

Russia exported 153,900 tonnes of agribusiness products worth $47 million to Angola in 2021, 18% less than in 2020. Wheat accounted for 94.1% of these exports, beef and edible beef by-products made up 1.6% and poultry meat accounted for 1.6%.

The 18% drop in the value of Russian exports to Angola was due primarily to wheat and yeast exports falling by, respectively, $9 million and $2.4 million. Poultry meat exports grew by $0.6 million, and Russia began exporting pork and edible pork by-products, shipping $0.4 million worth.

Russia imported 400 tonnes of bananas from Angola for $30,000. This was the only agricultural product imported from this country.
