U.S. DFC willing to finance Ukrainian businesses - Ukrainian Economy Ministry

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - The United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC, formerly the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, OPIC), an agency of the U.S. federal government, has said it is willing to finance individual Ukrainian business projects at sums varying from $1 million to $1 billion each, Ukrainian Deputy Economic Minister Oleksandr Hryban said.

"The DFC agency is willing to credit projects in Ukraine at sums varying from $1 million to $1 billion. They've made an exemption for Ukraine and agree to issue loans even if no American investor is present in a Ukrainian business," Ukrainian media quoted Hryban as saying.

At the same time, the DFC website has not yet published such information. The corporation said in a press release that, while attending the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly last week, its head Scott Nathan joined a meeting hosted by Polish President Andrzej Duda, in which Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal took part.
