Russian grain, fertilizer exports still being hindered, this could lead to global food crisis - Putin

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - The world may face a global food crisis, and this is related not to the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, but to sanctions against Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"The supply of our grain and fertilizers abroad is, unfortunately, not even for us, but for the global food market - difficult. The sanctions against Russia threaten to further exacerbate the situation, the global food crisis that the world has been heading towards for several years," he said at a meeting on the progress of seasonal field work on Tuesday.

"This is completely unrelated to Russia's special military operation in Donbass," Putin said.

"Some leading countries have built their financial and food policies in such a way that we are seeing the result that we have today, and the responsibility for it, of course, lies entirely with the so-called collective West," the president said.
