Russia records over 36,000 Covid-19 cases, 101 related deaths over past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded 36,605 new cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, and 101 patients diagnosed with coronavirus have died in this period, the coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Russia has identified 36,605 new cases of Covid-19. The number of daily hospitalizations amounted to 3,652, having increased by 139.3% compared to the previous day," it said.

The number of related hospitalizations grew in 72, decreased in nine, and remained the same in four constituent territories of Russia, it said.

Monday saw 1,526 coronavirus-related hospitalizations.

Compared to the previous day, when Russia saw 40,188 cases of Covid-19, the number of new infections has declined by 3,583. The number of daily cases has dropped below 40,000 for the first time since early September and is comparable to figures seen on March 15-20, when Russia saw under 40,000 cases.

One hundred one patients with coronavirus have died over the past 24 hours. Monday saw 85 such deaths.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in September is considerably lower than in March, when over 400-600 such deaths were recorded every day.

"As many as 59,547 people have recovered over the past 24 hours, or 34.5% more than on September 26," it said.

Russia has recorded a total of 20,873,783 cases of Covid-19, 386,943 related deaths, and 19,860,311 recoveries during the period of the pandemic.
