Ukraine's State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving joins European Clean Hydrogen Alliance

MOSCOW. Sept 26 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving has become a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, the agency said on its website.

The alliance supports the large-scale development of hydrogen energy over the period until 2030 and is part of the European Union's industrial decarbonization drive, according to Ukrainian media.

"We consider the development of the hydrogen economy as one of the pillars of the reconstruction of Ukraine, its energy transformation and the formation of the basis for the decarbonization of the economy," Head of Ukraine's State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Valeriy Bezus was quoted as saying by the agency's website.

The European Commission defines Ukraine as a priority partner in the EU's future hydrogen economy in its Hydrogen Strategy, the agency said.

Furthermore, the European Commission's REPowerEU plan envisions the creation of several corridors for hydrogen import to the EU, including one such corridor with Ukraine.

The European Clean Hydrogen Alliance currently comprises over 1,500 organizations, including more than ten from Ukraine. They include the Energy Ministry, the Energoatom national nuclear energy generating company, the Operator of the Gas Transmission System of Ukraine, and Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
