Russia registers 53,045 new cases of Covid-19, 107 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 53,045 new cases of Covid-19, or almost 6,500 more than the day before, and 107 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Russia has recorded 53,045 new cases of Covid-19 and 4,321 patients have been hospitalized, down 7.1% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 30 constituent territories, has decreased in 51, and has remained unchanged in four, it said.

Daily morbidity has grown by 6,571 cases from 46,474 reported on Tuesday. The morbidity level is similar to that of March 10-12, when over 50,000 infections were reported daily, while the morbidity curve was on the decline.

The number of daily hospitalizations is similar that of March, when the morbidity levels were the same.

Covid-19 mortality has been much lower in September than in March, when 500 to 600 deaths from Covid-19 were reported daily, versus 107 in the past 24 hours and 98 the day before.

"Another 59,718 patients recovered over the past day, up 14.4% from September 20," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has registered 20,588,102 cases of Covid-19, including 386,341 deaths and 19,537,543 recoveries.
