Biden to nominate Lynne Tracy as U.S. ambassador to Russia

WASHINGTON. Sept 20 (Interfax) - U.S. President Joe Biden has formally announced plans to nominate Lynne Tracy as U.S. ambassador to Russia, the White House said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Today, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate the following individuals to serve as key leaders in his administration: Lynne M. Tracy, Nominee for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation," the statement said.

Tracy is an expert on Russia and the former Soviet republics and a career diplomat, who served as a senior advisor on Russia in the U.S. Department of State before being appointed as the U.S. ambassador to Armenia in 2019. She speaks Russian and will become the first female U.S. ambassador to Russia if confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
