Russia registers 46,474 new cases of Covid-19, 98 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 46,474 new cases of Covid-19, or 3,014 fewer than the day before, and 98 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Russia has recorded 46,474 new cases of Covid-19 and 4,651 patients have been hospitalized, up 126.4% from the previous day," the headquarters said

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 79 constituent territories, has decreased in five, and has remained unchanged in one, it said. Hospitals admitted 2,054 patients the day before.

The daily morbidity has decreased by 3,014 cases from 49,488 reported on Monday. The morbidity level is similar to that of March 12-13, when fewer than 50,000 infections were recorded daily while the morbidity curve was on decline.

The daily number of hospitalizations is approximately the same as it was in March, when the morbidity levels were similar.

The Covid-19 mortality has been much lower in September than in March, when Russia saw over 500-600 deaths from Covid-19 per day, as against 98 in the past 24 hours and 91 the day before.

"Another 52,194 patients have recovered over the day, up 35.2% from September 19," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 20,535,057 cases of Covid-19, including 386,234 deaths and 19,477,825 recoveries.
