Kaliningrad Amber Combine entering Thai market

KALININGRAD. Sept 20 (Interfax) - The Kaliningrad Amber Combine (KAC), a division of Russian state corporation Rostec, will present its jewelry products on the Thai market next year, the company said.

A KAC delegation visited Bangkok with support from Russia's trade mission in Thailand, primarily to participate in the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair and to work out a strategy to sell its products on the Southeast Asian market, the company said.

"For the company, which is well known on European markets, it is currently very important to move to new level, to Asian marketplaces. With the support of two trade missions - Thailand's in Russia and Russia's in Thailand - we have achieved certain results. First of all, this is ongoing participation of our exhibitors at the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair starting next year," KAC deputy CEO Maya Skvortsova was quoted as saying in the press release.

The Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair is the largest trade venue for finding suppliers, sales and networking among key players in the world jewelry business, she said. The company also discussed putting up display windows with amber at Bangkok shopping centers, including under a franchise arrangement.

KAC will also present its products and hold a series of negotiations on cooperation at leading exhibition forums in Istanbul, Singapore and Dubai before the end of this year, the company said.

The coast of Kaliningrad Region in the area around the town of Yantarny has 95% of the world's amber reserves. The KAC, the only commercial amber miner in the region, increased production by 9.5% to 575 tonnes in 2021.
