Gazprom to supply Kovykta gas to pipeline on Oct 25, launch field in second half of Dec

MOSCOW. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Gazprom will feed gas from the Kovykta field into the Kovykta-Chayanda pipeline on October 25 to perform pre-commissioning work under load and plans to launch the field in the second half of December, the Russian gas giant said.

"It was put on record today during a briefing held with the chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee that on October 25 gas from the Kovyktinskoye field will be fed into the gas trunkline between the Kovyktinskoye and Chayandinskoye fields in order to perform commissioning operations under load. The field will be put into operation in the second half of December this year," Gazprom said.

"Kovyktinskoye is unique; it is the largest field in Eastern Siberia with design recoverable gas reserves of 1.8 trillion cubic meters and gas condensate reserves of 65.7 million tonnes. With the launch of Kovyktinskoye, the resource base in eastern Russia will be substantially expanded for both domestic and export gas supplies. It should be noted that under these circumstances, Gazprom's reserve replacement ratio in 2022 will exceed 1, the same way as it has been above 1 for the last 17 year," it said.
