U.S. Dept of Treasury includes Chechen leader Kadyrov in sanctions list

WASHINGTON. Sept 15 (Interfax) - The U.S. Department of the Treasury on Thursday included in the sanctions lists for Russia Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadyrov, Russian presidential aide Maxim Oreshkin, and dozens of other individuals and entities from Russia.

The sanctions, in particular, have affected some of Kadyrov's relatives, in particular, his wife Medni and daughters Karina, Tabarik and Ayshat, who is culture minister of the Chechen Republic, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said in its document.

The sanctions lists include a total of 44 individuals and 32 entities from Russia.

The U.S. authorities also imposed sanctions against Russian presidential Children's Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, the Zaporizhzhya region's military-civil administration head Yevgeny Balitsky, and Volodymyr Rogov, a member of the chief council of the Zaporizhzhya region's administration.

Sanctions were imposed against Baikal Electronics JSC, some scientific research centers in the sphere of physics, semiconductors and quantum technologies, in particular, the Federal State Financed Institution of Science Physics and Technology named after Valiev of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Federal State Financed Institution of Science Physics and Technology named after Ioffe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Spectroscopy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Sanctions were also imposed on Angstrem JSC, Element JSC, the Joint Stock Company Production Association Sever, the Joint Stock Company Research and Development Enterprise Sapfir, the Lavochkin Scientific Research Association, Russian Space Systems, JSC MTSST, and LLC Yadro Fab Dubna.
